At Dutch Design Week, Waag Futurelab presented an alternative to our current capitalist system: open source technology instead of patents, free blueprints instead of pointlessly long privacy agreements, citizen science instead of paywalled scientific articles, and profit for all, instead of profit for just a few of the super rich. Open design is at the base of a new economic system.

The stand presented six working prototypes of open source technology developed by Waag Futurelab and partners.

The outside of the stand was wrapped in rising slogans and quotes striving for the democratisation of technology, whilst on the inside the walls were covered with information about the prototypes and their applications. Visitors were encouraged to cover the central desk with stickers voicing their visions of a better future.
